SANPO NATIONAL LOFT NEWSLETTER MAY/JUNE
BY SAVILLE PENKIN
Yazeed,
the Manager of the Klapmuts loft Western Cape, would like to thank
all those pigeon fanciers who have entrusted their pigeons into
his care and ensures each and every fancier that he is looking
after them, together with OB, to the best of their ability.
Two weeks
ago the birds were vaccinated for the last time with Aviomac which
was sponsored by Aviomed (Nationwide Pigeon & Pet Supplies).
The birds
responded very well to the vaccine and a special thanks goes to
Dr Okkie Botha in this regard. Dr Botha is always ready to help
with any matters concerning the pigeons’ health which is
much appreciated.
Dr De
Beer has also been fantastic and it is fortunate that the loft
is situated a stone’s throw from his surgery as the birds
can be checked on a regular basis. His service to the National
Loft is tremendous and after the last test, recommended a treatment
for Canker which is being carried out with Cankerex Plus sponsored
by Medpet.
The birds
are exercising around the loft well and are being prepared for
the first training flight scheduled for the 7th June. If the weather
allows, the birds will receive approximately 20 training tosses
before the first Hotspot which is scheduled for the 1st August.
The program (subject to change) is as follows:-
First Hotspot Aug 1st Majiesfontein 180 Km
2nd Hotspot Aug 8th Koup 240 Km

yet paid for their pigeons should please do so now and you are
asked to deposit your entry fee into the following account :-

The following people have contributed
immensely towards the National Loft and their efforts are sincerely
appreciated, Hendrik Cooper, Willy van der Berg, Ulrich Richter,
Paul de Wet, Tony Dos Santos, Nick Greef, F Hendricks and Saville
Penkin.
It is difficult to identify
any birds that have been lost from May month as the electronic
rings will only be placed on the birds legs once the training
flights have reached a reasonable distance. As soon as this has
been done, a full report will be issued.
At the start of the season we
must again thank our sponsors for their unconditional support
throughout the year. Medpet for all their products, Aviomed &
Pigeon World for the PMV vaccine, Avinutro Herbs, Mr Viljoen grit
and minerals. We are forever grateful to them.
We are still looking for more
sponsors and trophies for the Hotspots and main race A big thanks
goes to Ithriam Leukes from Atlantis s for sponsoring 3 trophies
for the main race.
The loft management wishes
each and every fancier everything of the best for their 2010 season
which starts now.
