JANUARY 2010 NEWSLETTER
BY SAVILLE PENKIN

The New Year has started off extremely well with the intake of pigeons exceeding expectations.

Yazeed Moerat was appointed Loft Manager and he elected to keep OB as the Chief Trainer which is fantastic as he is well acquainted with all aspects of the homing, feeding, exercising and training of the birds. Yazeed will be assisted by the previous Manager Hendrik where necessary and the administration team will continue as before.

Birds have been received from all over South Africa but few from Natal for some unknown reason. We appeal to fanciers from this area to please support us. Promises have been received from the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape fanciers are supporting the loft in great numbers.

There was a huge crowd at the loft last year when the main race was held which was good to see and hopefully many more Cape fanciers will enter to enjoy the thrill of seeing their birds return.

The birds are in good health having been vaccinated and checked regularly by Dr De Beer to whom we are ever so grateful.

There are presently in excess of 250 pigeons in the loft with promises of many more from around the country. For those fanciers who breed early we would be happy to accept birds up till 31st March or possibly even 15th April, by arrangement.

The provisional programme for 2010 is as follows:

Matjiesfontein

We look forward to everyone’s support and confirm that enquiries may be made to Yazeed cell 084 711 2830 or OB cell 082 291 4993.

We would also like to thank our sponsors Agricol (Dawie Le Roux), Medpet, Pigeon World (Lourens Muller) and Dr De Beer for their contributions without which, it would be extremely difficult to manage.

Regular newsletters will appear on the Western Cape Pigeon Racing site but are happy to post Newsletters to those entrants without an internet facility. Kindly advise Yazeed or OB should you require newsletters to be posted to you. This is most important.

We all look forward to another successful year.

Yazeed, Gigi (Last years winner Gigi Gaddin)and OB
