ALLFLIGHT CARNIVAL CITY LOFT NEWS 9 JUNE 2009

I sit here freezing inside my office looking out over the soccer field to the traps of the lofts that is closed and see the pigeons flying up and down the passage as they are being fed, all of them safely inside their lofts and not on the road in this wind and weather we are experiencing today in Johannesburg. To some of you this is disappointing as you wanted the “Hot Spot” to take place no matter what the weather does, funny enough if your pigeons was the ones that today hit wires or went missing then I suppose I would have again be the fool that does not know how to train pigeons. To us who actually care about our feather athletes I am very glad to say that the pigeons are safely inside the lofts and will be ready to fight the elements on another day when it is a bit fairer on them than so early in the season.

The “Hot Spot” of today is thus postponed till further notice. We will reschedule it on a later date but for now the program for the winter 2009 race will commence as planned with the next “Hot Spot” scheduled for Tuesday 16 June 2009 from Ventersburg. Tuesday is a public holiday and we are also hosting the Jan Malan Stock Sale, this sale includes his entire stock of imported and first generation Imported Jos Thone stock birds. Viewing will be from 9am and the sale will commence at 11am, we are expecting the pigeons to arrive at 10am so you can come and watch your pigeons fly as well as have a look if something on the sale does not interest you.

As soon as the weather clears we will have a few training flights and I will upload the results for you to follow which pigeons are still left in the loft, I have loaded the basket list on the results page under “Hot Spot 1” please have a look there if you are unsure which of your pigeons are left. The “pontool” will now be from next week and you do not need to re-nominate your pigeons.

I close this short newsflash with some very sad news, one of our local Boksburg fanciers and big supporters Frans Herbst son tragically died in a motor car accident on Friday, our thoughts and prayers are with Frans and his family in these sad times.
