ALLFLIGHT CARNIVAL CITY LOFT NEWS 14 APRIL 2009
The Easter weekend has come and
gone which in my terms means it is time to get the pigeons up in
the air and flying, I hope all of you had a nice relaxing weekend
and that the ones who traveled to far destinations had a safe journey.
We started chasing the winter intake last week and some of them
can fly for longer than an hour already, but as per usual there
are the ones that struggle’s to fly for more than 5minutes.
We will be forcing them to fly for 30minutes the rest of this week
and then increase it to 60minutes around the loft from next week.
We are planning to get them on the road by the 27th of April. Hopefully
the lazy ones will be able to get up in the air and keep up for
the planned loft training the next two weeks otherwise they will
have a big surprise come the first toss. It has been a very healthy
off season this year and we only had a few pigeons that got sick,
some of them returned to perfect health after a few days in the
“Clinic” but unfortunately some had to be culled or
died, we notified the owners and most were replaced and are in the
team flying.
We will be fitting the electronic
rings only after the first 75km training flight, which if all goes
well with the road training will be middle of May, this means that
the next loft listing will only be available then, sorry for the
inconvenience but unfortunately with the cost of electronic rings
and the fact that when a pigeon goes missing for a day or two in
the early trainings it comes back without the electronic ring we
decided to get the pigeons on the road first this year before we
allocate electronic rings to them. I must just say that the fanciers
who steals the electronic ring from a pigeon that he surely is not
an asset for the sport of pigeon racing, but at least they are better
than some of the utter fools out there who sometimes cut off the
identification ring from a pigeon, we have had a few come back from
training flights in the past without any rings on them, needless
to say that this pigeon has no value either to us or the owner who
entered it. The fool who cut off the identification ring has not
only taken away the identity of this pigeon but has stolen the money
from the fancier who entered the pigeon as this pigeon can no longer
take part in the race. So if you really need the electronic ring
you can take that off and use it but please do not cut off the identification
ring from the pigeons.
To each and every pigeon fancier
out there good luck for the 2009 season that lies ahead of us, let
us all strive to give the pigeons all they need to compete in every
race we enter them.
