new Chery QQ3
There really is not much more to say about this
little hen that is inbred to the great “50151” Sierens/Oscar
pigeon of Andre Carelsen. Pigeons very closely related to her won
nearly R400 000 for Piet Coetzee in the THU sales and ring races
last year, so they are proven winners on distances between 600 and
700km.
In 2nd place was “JP” the pigeon from
Dries Botha that dropped with the winner. Dries is from Lichtenburg
where pigeon racing is a very serious sport and the fanciers are
all fierce competitors. Dries Botha is not an unknown name in big
one loft races as he bred “Nuclear Vision” the Knock–Out
winner at Sun City in 2005. “Nuclear Vision” also flew
2nd in the South African club championship at Sun City that year
and finished 37th on the final race winning more than R400 000 in
prize money. And take guess sired “JP” the 2nd place
winner this year at Carnival City, none other than “Nuclear
Vision”. A full sister has flown 7 times in the top 5 at club
level for Dries this year so far, another sister was 155th at Sun
City earlier this year.
Third position goes to Jannie de Beer and Jacques
Labuschange from Randburg Club. They are already famous as the winners
of the R3000 race in 2008 here at Carnival City winning R120 000
in that race!
This is just to show that the top positions were
won by fanciers who did their homework and bred pigeons specifically
for the final race. To those fanciers who walk around saying that
they were lucky because of this and that, please remember that on
the day even though there was another 700 bred for the final race
the prize winning pigeons had the form and the “luck”
to break at the right spot to be crowned winners. The one thing
that has been true and has been proven over and over and over again
is that every winner and top pigeon in the lofts here at Carnival
City was bred from pigeons that had winning blood in their genes
on both sides. And that just goes to show that “Bloed Liegt
Niet”!
Pat Noble won R15 000 for finishing 4th and special
mention must be made of Franz Bieske who bred the pigeon Brenda
that won R10 000 for taking 5th position. What makes him so special,
you may ask? He is confined to a wheelchair but more importantly
he only entered ONE pigeon.
The full results and payouts are available on
the website, please have a look and if you did win some money and
have not yet supplied us with your banking detail do so as soon
as possible as we would like to finalize the payments.
Auctions:
There will be one auction to be held on Saturday
3 October 2009. We will publish the full list of pigeons up for
auction on the website by Monday 24 August, please check if your
pigeons are on the list and supply us with the pedigree so that
we can include it in the sales catalogue that we are busy preparing.
Should your pigeon not be on sale you as breeder have the right
to purchase it back at R200 each until 4 September 2009. Please
note that after this date we will donate the remaining birds to
clubs that have expressed interest in hosting an auction to raise
club funds and you as breeder will not get any percentage of the
proceeds as you already had the opportunity to buy it back.
Congratulations
to all the winners, now we start with the “2010 Summer Challenge”!!!
