Western Cape Pigeon Racing South Africa's No1 Meeting Place for Pigeon Fanciers

The 2nd Hot Spot for the winter 2009 season took place on Friday 26 June 2009 from Ventersburg (242km), it was a bitterly cold day with temperatures around the 0° Celsius and a very strong South Westerly wind blowing, this was not a perfect day for racing pigeons but I suppose the fanciers who were lucky enough to have one in the money will disagree with this, what was interesting was that some pigeons came back very late and they all came right from the back of the lofts straight from Witbank or Pretoria directions, they must have been pushed 20 minutes past the loft with the wind and took an hour to get back against the same wind which was now a headwind, all in all a very good learning curve for the pigeons.

PONTOOL NOT WON

Congratulations to each and every one of the top 20 finishers who wins back some or all of their entry fees, the next Hot Spot which will be the 3rd Hot Spot will take place on Friday 3 July 2009 from Winburg (290km). As you can see from the result the PONTOOL was not won as the bird from Vryheid Resiesduif Klub was not nominated, this means that the R3100 gets carried over to the next Hot Spot, remember to pay in the R20 per pigeon for the next Hot Spot if you did take part in the pontool on Hot Spot 2, if not and you want to take part in the pontool on Hot Spot 3 that will be close or more than R6000 you will need to pay R40 per pigeon. We would like to find out from you if you will be interested in having a car race on the same basis as previous years whereby we have a once off race on the final hot spot from Edenburg and the first nominated pigeon wins the 1st prize which will either be cash if we do not get enough support or a brand new motorcar if there is enough support OR do you want to race it over the last two hot spots (Verkeerdevlei & Edenburg) with the best average velocity nominated pigeon on the two final hot spots winning the money or car. Let us know what you think so that we can get the ball rolling on our side and start to advertise it to all the participants. If anyone of you have a different idea as to how you would like to see the car race be flown pass it onto us and we can then inform the other fanciers and maybe we can find another more interesting way to compete for the car?

There will be only 4 short training flights this week so there will be no results on the website till Friday, we have found a few pigeons that came back without electronic rings and we will replace them tomorrow so make sure to take a look at the basketing list on Thursday as some of the pigeons that went missing will be back on the clock and ready for Hot Spot 3.
