August 2011 Klapmuts National Loft Report:
It was with sadness that SANPO had announced
the resignation of Mr. Yazeed Moerat as loft manager to the Klapmuts
National Lofts. Mr. Yazeed Moerat’s health had been adversely
affected over the past couple of months and he has since decided
to step down in view of his current health challenges. The president
and executive of SANPO, would want to thank Mr. Yazeed Moerat,
for his unwavering dedication in trying to maintain the Klapmuts
Loft with expected requirements.
Mr. Moerat has pledged his continued support
to the new interim loft management team, where possible and practical.
Mr. Hendrik Cooper, has since been approached and appointed as
the interim loft manager and continues to be ably assisted by
O.B. Claassens. Mr. Cooper has had a good few years in managing
the Klapmuts National Loft on previous occasions and is well aware
of the challenges involved in meeting the expected requirements
of both SANPO and the pigeon fanciers contributing to the Klapmuts
National Loft. We welcome Mr. Cooper’s willingness to step
in and assist at such short notice and wish him all of the best
with the challenges ahead.
The birds are as always, a picture of good health. The first two
Hotspots have already been completed and produced fascinating
results already. The winner of the first Hotspot was none other
than “MEDPET Pty LTD, with their bird completing the 180km
race from Matiesfontein with a velocity of 1417mpm. Well Done
Messrs!!!
The second Hotspot also from Matjiesfontein, again produced great
results, with the first bird, breaking clear of the chasing pack,
by a good minute and 30 seconds. This bird made one swing above
the roof of the loft and pitched straight for the landing board,
waisting no time at all!!, according to Mr Cooper, it was a delight
to see such a good trap and his day was made when he witnessed
this particular bird trap in Championship style. The bird belongs
to none other than Mrs. Pearl Butler of Atlantis, racing in the
Western Flyers Homing Union. Mrs. Butler becomes the first lady
winner at the Klapmuts National Loft for 2011 and she had shown
in previous years already, competing in her local union, WFHU,
that she can hold her own, when competing against her more maligned
male counter parts. Well done Mrs. Butler to you and your husband.

One Loft race site.
The new online clocking system has worked like a charm this year,
at the various SANPO national lofts, but has unfortunately also
brought along with it some administrative challenges. The new
loft management team, is aware of the issues with the basketing
lists prior to hotspots not being published or updated, but has
promised to resolve this issue as speedily as possible. The third
Hotspot to be flown from Koup, a distance of 240km’s will
be flown on Sunday the 28th August 2011, weather permitting.
To our two MAIN sponsors, Agricol and Medpet, a heartfelt thanks
for your continued support and promotion of the Klapmuts National
Loft. It is good to know that the Klapmuts Loft can be associated
with two market leaders as yourselves in your respective industries.
We must also again make mention of Dr. De Beer’s efficient
service, to the Klapmuts National Loft, in assisting the loft
management team with keeping all our birds in good health and
top nick.
To all our other loyal supporters, sponsors and partners THANK
YOU, for your continued support of the Klapmuts National Loft
and pigeon racing in the Western Cape. The seasons are slowly
turning and the indifferent winter almost behind us, we hope that
with a change in season, will come a change in fortune for all
fanciers participating at the Klapmuts National Lofts.
Oom Hendrik Cooper can be contacted for any general queries you
might have regarding your birds at the Klapmuts Loft. Thank you
once again for the privilege of entrusting us to be caretakers
of such wonderful creatures.
Until Next Month
