Racing into the future!!!!
Exciting Season awaits FBHU fanciers!!!
After hibernating amongst the stock loft full of babies these
past few months, and seeing how the birds started to moult, we
suddenly realised that the new racing season was upon us when
the Federated Board of Homing Unions held its annual conference
in Paarl this past Sunday, the 6th of March 2011.
It was exiting times as new elections had to be held and there
was plenty to reflect on the 2010 season. In his address, the
chairman, Mr Lourens le Roux thanked and praised every member
of his executive for their input and tremendous support. He said
that he was particularly pleased with the administrative and financial
aspects of the organisation as these two were the pillars on which
the success or failure of the FBHU had hinged during the past
year.
Mr le Roux also expressed his satisfaction with the way the race
and transport committees handled their individual tasks of making
it a very successful season on that front as well. Most notably,
he singled out Jan Kruger who staved off the challenge of more
than five hundred other fanciers to claim the title of Federated
Board champion for 2010. He highlighted the extremely successful
annual presentation held in Paarl in November last year where
all the individual Board race and sectional champions were presented
with trophies and medals for the sterling performances of their
pigeons. He specifically highlighted the fact that the entertainers
on the night made it a really enjoyable event. After almost twenty
years of being held in Paarl, the 2011 presentation will be hosted
by the Cape Flats Homing Union in Wynberg and every one is already
looking forward to that.
He also congratulated members who qualified for SANPO colours
and encouraged others to make a special effort to report their
members’ achievements that would also allow them to gain
the due recognition they deserve. The chairman made specific reference
of the way the convoyer looked after our birds on the truck and
the almost unblemished season we had as far as liberations were
concerned.
Lastly, he encouraged more members to attend meetings regularly
and also to adhere to the protocol regarding that in order to
maintain the respect and discipline amongst each other, irrespective
whether we tend to disagree on certain matters at times.
He envisaged an equally successful 2011 season and hoped that
all members will work towards making the FBHU an even stronger
force in the pigeon racing fraternity in South Africa.
