Federated board of homing unions - Est. 1953

Exciting times await fanciers of the Federated Board of Homing Unions as birds for the first of two big money races were basketed on Thursday, the 23rd July.

Come Saturday the 25th July 2009 approximately 8000 pigeons will be liberated from Victoria West in the FB and the newly adopted Nomination (previously YBS) race.

Birds were nominated before the Touwsriver race and although most fanciers have lost a few here and there, approximately 2000 birds that will compete for prize money in the region of R92000.00. The FB race will see nearly 8000 pigeons whinging their way homeward to try and score a share of close to R55000.000. Both races will see the top one hundred positions ‘in the money” besides picking up valuable points at this stage of the season.

To many fanciers in the FBHU this race and the second leg, which is flown from Colesberg later in the season is one of the major highlights on the race calendar. We trust that conditions will favour a fair race and many cash-strapped fanciers could pick up a few rand to at least recoup some of their outlay at the start of the season. It is only in the Federated Board that even the 100th position could see you walk away with up to R350.00.

So, to all fanciers out there in the Federated Board, here’s wishing you the best of luck and good times so that come Sunday at the ring-out in Paarl we’ll see many smiling faces amongst the five hundred-plus crowd.
