is also noted that the clock pad is to be fitted just inside
of the owners loft and that the fancier must have control
of the pigeon after arriving from race point. There are
however organizations who unfortunately don’t apply
this rule as set out and adopted by SANPO.
These members are clocking their birds outside their lofts
with loose clock pads on their landing boards. I have personally
witnessed a fancier practice this for the past two years
plus and have reported same.
What is even more disappointing is the fact that this fancier
has held a position as Race Secretary in the past and has
won races and claimed prizes.
The 2009 racing season is about to commence shortly and
the fancier in question will once again be in an advantaged
position over his club mates. I recently took a photo of
the clocking pad which still lies on the landing board.
The question pending is; how many races are won during a
racing season by fanciers who have unfairly put themselves
in a position of advantage at the cost of fellow fanciers
because the organizations or clubs haven’t made the
effort of checking all lofts before each season commences.
I encourage all organizations and their clubs to take this
matter seriously and thereby giving all fanciers a fair
chance of winning any given race.
